About
Will Lee, CPA
Tax Advisory Principal
Precise, research-driven tax advice — with a principal who's reachable, accountable, and in your corner year-round.
Why this practice exists
A different model for tax advice.
I spent over a decade in the specialty tax groups of some of Canada's largest accounting firms — work that demanded real technical depth and gave me exposure to complex structures I wouldn't have encountered anywhere else.
What I noticed, consistently, was that the clients with the most complex situations were often the ones with the least direct access to the person actually doing their work. Engagements moved fast, files were large, and genuine relationships were hard to sustain at scale.
I built this practice around a different model. A limited client base, no time pressure, and a principal who is personally involved in every file from start to finish. The goal is straightforward: to do the work properly, explain it clearly, and be available when it matters — not just at year-end.
Credentials & Background
The experience behind the advice.
Chartered Professional Accountant
Member of CPA Alberta and CPA Canada. Completed the CPA In-Depth Tax Program — the profession's most rigorous specialization in Canadian income tax.
Specialty Tax Background
Trained within the specialty tax groups of Big Four, national, and regional Canadian firms — covering the full spectrum of public practice. Also brings direct industry experience from a senior tax role within a Canadian public company.
Principal-Only Practice
Every engagement is handled personally — from initial scoping through filing and advocacy. No handoffs to junior staff. Limited client base by design, so every file receives the attention it warrants.
How this practice works
Boutique by design, not by accident.
Complex engagements are handled personally, from initial scoping through execution and filing. There are no handoffs, no junior staff reviewing in the background, and no ambiguity about who is responsible for the outcome. Where a situation calls for additional expertise — cross-border tax lawyers, valuators, U.S. CPAs — trusted sub-specialists are brought in selectively, and the full engagement is coordinated personally. The result is boutique focus with broad reach.
Ongoing clients have direct access by email and phone throughout the year. Tax planning shouldn't happen once a year in April — if you're considering a major transaction, a new hire, or a change in your corporate structure, that's a conversation worth having before it happens, not after.
